Irlen Syndrome

Also known as Mears-Irlen syndrome

A description of when patients (usually children) have difficulty processing what they are reading. Such conditions include dyslexia and Irlens has shown that coloured overlays or special filtered spectacles can assist in reading ability in some individuals.

Further information on Irlens syndrome can be found on their website.

Here at the Village Optician Ltd we have a computer programme devised by Dr David Thomson which can simulate which coloured overlay best matches the patient's needs.

Now at The Village Optician Ltd we have invested in the Intuituitive Colorimeter which can be even more specific in determining the precise colour required. Symptoms in certain conditions including Dyslexia, visual stress and migraine may be relieved with the use of Precision Tints.
