As we move our eyes objects are focused onto the macula.
The muscles around the eye allow precise movement.
In nystagmus the eyes move involuntarily.
The eyes may move smoothly or in a jerky fashion.
They may move through a small angle or through a larger angle.
And they may move horizontally or at another angle
Because the image is always moving, it can be difficult to see properly.
The effect on vision depends on how much and how fast the eyes are moving.
